The Bucket List Family in Florence
The Bucket List Family, the alias of the Gee family, made the decision to explore what more this world has to offer. They have been travelling for over a year and their main focus during their travels is for their children to learn to find true happiness, become more open minded and open hearted, to discover and respect their environment, embark on unknown adventures and not be affraid to try something new.
The family decided to visited the The City of Lilies, Florence. During their stay in the city they stayed at The Westin Excelsior, Florence and enjoyed the hotel's convenient location and great view over the Arno river.

Take your family on a Florentine adventure
Visiting an artistic city like Florence with a young family surely is a unique experience for the whole family.
Florence has the advantage of being a compact city where all the main attractions are within walking distance from each other. Hence, the city is very easy to visit on foot or even by bike!
Be prepared to dive into a world of art, history and culture as Florence has to offer many museums, institutes, monuments and churches.
In general, Florence is a great city as the traffic is quite calm so children can wonder around.
In the Oltrarno district, located just across the river from Ponte Veccho, boasts great kids-friendly sites such as the Boboli Gardens at Palazzo Pitti, with lots of open, wide space for the little ones to run around, explore, climb trees, go fishing, watch people and play games with the entire family. Besides, the Boboli Gardens are a great spot for a picnics.
In the warm summer evenings, consider strolling around in the courtyard of the Palazzo Pitti were you might catch a glimpe of the musical performances here, preferably while polishing off a gelato from one of the local's favorite gelateria, Gelateria Santa Trinità.
Florence has a remarkable number of museums, some very famous, some even not very well known by the locals.
A great museum to visit with children is the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio, where they organize daily activities for families for children of different ages.
Another one is the Leonardo da Vinci Museum. Here the younger ones can picture themselves steering one of the machines designed by the genius of the Renaissance due to the interactive constructions.
Should your kids be interested in fossils and skeletons, in the Museum of Natural History, an impressive number of fossils, from the Valdarno area in Tuscany, can be found.
